Repurposing content for AI means reshaping existing pages so ChatGPT and friends can read and quote them easily.
You do not need new content, you need clearer content. Small structural changes make old pages AI-friendly.
1. Find your best pages
Pick the pages that already rank or get traffic. Strong content is the best raw material.
2. Add a clear answer up top
Put a direct, self-contained answer near the start. AIs lift these clean passages.
3. Break it into chunks
Use descriptive headings, short paragraphs and lists. Structured text is far easier to parse.
4. Add FAQs and schema
Answer genuine follow-up questions in visible text. Add structured data only when it accurately describes the content and serves a supported use case; FAQ markup is not required for AI citations.
5. State facts plainly
Make claims explicit and self-standing, not buried in long sentences. Clear statements are easier for readers to evaluate; citations are still selected by the service.
Quick tip: Read a paragraph in isolation. If it still makes sense without the rest, an AI can quote it.
Mistakes to avoid
- Walls of text. Long, dense paragraphs are hard for AIs to extract from.
- Vague phrasing. If the point is only implied, an AI cannot lift it cleanly.
