Ever wonder why Google ranks an older site over a newer, better-written one? Or why ChatGPT keeps naming the same few brands? Credibility is one part of the picture. Google discusses experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness in its E-E-A-T quality framework.
It stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trust. It helps evaluate content quality; E-E-A-T is not itself a specific ranking factor, and quality raters do not directly determine rankings. AI services do not publish an identical universal selection formula.
Experience
Prove you've done it. Real examples, your own data, "here's what happened when we tried it".
Expertise
Put a real name and credentials on your content, so it's clear who's talking and why they'd know.
Authoritativeness
Become a name others point to. Mentions and links from respected sites, plus deep coverage of your topic.
Trust
The foundation
Everything above rests on this. Accurate info, cited sources, real reviews, a secure site, a clear about page. These are the signals that tell Google and the AIs you are exactly who you say you are.
None of this is a trick. It's just proving you're a real, credible business. Make those signals verifiable, without inventing credentials, reviews, or first-hand experience.
"E-E-A-T" comes straight from Google's own Search Quality Rater Guidelines.
