Use this template to write outreach emails that actually earn links, instead of getting ignored.
Most link outreach fails because it asks for a favour while offering nothing. This template flips that: prepare a real reason for the link, then make it effortless for the other site to say yes.
Before you send
- A genuinely link-worthy page or asset to point to
- A shortlist of sites that already link in your space
- The right contact, not a generic inbox
The email
- A specific subject line, not "link request"
- One line on who you are and why you are relevant
- A clear reason the link helps their readers, not just you
- One simple ask, with the exact URL
Follow up
- One polite follow-up after about a week
- No more than two follow-ups in total
- Track replies so you do not double-message
Start here: Lead with what is in it for them. Outreach that is all about you gets deleted.
How to use it
Personalise every send. Generic blasts get marked as spam and can hurt your sender reputation. A handful of tailored, relevant emails will out-earn a hundred copy-paste ones, so keep the list short and the reason genuine.
